Air Force One Movie is a 1997 American political action thriller film directed by Wolfgang Petersen and starring Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman, Glenn Close, Wendy Crewson, Xander Berkeley, William H. Macy, Dean Stockwell, and Paul Guilfoyle. The film was written by Andrew W. Marlowe. It tells the story of a group of terrorists who hijack Air Force One, the presidential aircraft, and the President’s attempt to rescue everyone on board by retaking his plane.
The film was a box office success and received mostly positive critical reviews. It was praised for its action sequences, performances, and Petersen’s direction.
In the film, President James Marshall (Ford) is returning home from Moscow with his family when Air Force One is hijacked by a group of Russian terrorists led by Egor Korshunov (Oldman). Korshunov demands the release of 30 political prisoners in exchange for the hostages.
Marshall refuses to negotiate with the terrorists and orders his security detail to retake the plane. In the ensuing battle, many of the terrorists are killed and the rest are captured. Marshall and his family are rescued and Air Force One safely lands in Washington, D.C.
Air Force One is a well-made action thriller that is sure to entertain audiences. It is a classic example of the “Die Hard on a plane” genre and features some of the most intense and exciting action sequences ever put to film. The film also features strong performances from Ford and Oldman, as well as solid direction from Petersen.
